Applications for the UTSA Democratizing Racial Justice (DRJ) Ethnic Studies Educators’ Academy (ESEA) Application 2022 is now open for eligible persons to apply before the deadline date(June 17, 2022). The ESEA is an opportunity for current and future higher education faculty interested in creating racial justice-centered classrooms by developing content and delivery within an ethnic studies framework. Graduate students are welcome to apply.
The Ethnic Studies Educators’ Academy plans to train educators in interdisciplinary Ethnic Studies and contribute to a collaborative teaching guide in the process. By the end of each annual academy, educators will co-produce this publicly accessible Ethnic Studies teaching guide on racial justice topics, emphasizing transformative, community-centered pedagogies, with components for use at the college level. By the end of the three-year project, DRJ will build a sustainable network of Ethnic Studies practitioners and pathways across the educational continuum, including community colleges, four-year universities, graduate programs, and community centers—and connect them all through the community-focused projects at the People’s Academies.
The Ethnic Studies Educators’ Academy Committee selects participants through an application process in the Summer of every grant year.
Benefits
Selected applicants will receive $1000 for participating, which includes attending all three conference sessions, completing assignments, and possibly presenting these assignments to the rest of the ESEA.
Application Process
This year’s Ethnic Studies Educators’ Academy will take place virtually on July 11, 13, and 15, 2022.
