UNDERGRADUATE APPLICANTS
APPLICATION AND CLOSING DATE

ALL INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS ARE TO TAKE NOTE OF THE FOLLOWING:
- Submit a completed application form with supporting documents together with a non-refundable application fee of R200.00
- Online applications are free

- Final School leaving results when applying with international credentials or currently in Grade 12 (Final Grade 11 results)
- Valid Passport or Identity Document or Birth Certificate
- Sworn English Translation of documents (Documents issued in any Language other than English)
Provide proof of the English Proficiency where English was not used as a medium of learning and teaching (the University prefers the applicant to take the IELTS at an overall score of 6 and TOEFL at an average score of 80–104 for Undergraduate programmes) Alternatively, you may elect to write the University of Johannesburg English Language Programme Test (UJELP). Should you choose to write the University of Johannesburg English Language Programme Test (UJELP), you are required to obtain an overall score of 6. - Should you require on campus accommodation, please submit a completed residence application form at the same time you apply to study at UJ
Applicants who are attending or have attended a University within or outside the Republic of South Africa, must submit an academic transcript that covers the period of study, especially if they intend on being granted exemption from modules or courses at University.
Degree seeking students
In order to study for a South African degree applicants are required to have achieved a South African National Senior Certificate with a degree endorsement. All International applicants with high school qualifications achieved outside of the Republic of South Africa require a certificate of exemption from the Matriculation Board of South Africa for admission into undergraduate studies. The following supporting documents must be submitted to the Matriculation Board on the address provided below;
- Form M30 (this form can be downloaded on the Matriculation Board website https://mb.usaf.ac.za)
- Correctly certified copies of the applicants educational qualifications certified by a South African High Commission,
- Consulate, Trade Mission or a Public Notary in your home country
- A correctly certified copy of your passport or birth certificate certified by a South African High Commission, Consulate,
- Trade Mission or a Public Notary in your home country
- Sworn English Translation of documents (Documents issued in any Language other than English)
- Exemption fee as determined by the Matriculation Board (see website https://mb.usaf.ac.za)
- Submit proof of payment for the Exemption fee of R700 payable to the banking details below
