Sol Plaatje – Canon Collins 2023 Postgraduate Scholarship (Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe)
Canon Collins Scholarship: Applications are now open for the Sol Plaatje – Canon Collins 2023 Postgraduate Scholarship for nationals of, or have refugee status in, Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe and must be studying or applying to study at a South African university. Canon Collins Trust in partnership with Sol Plaatje Educational Project invite applications for the postgraduate study in South Africa 2023. They will provide funding for up to a maximum of two years for Masters and three years for PhD. Continued funding depends upon satisfactory progress and academic reports.

- Justice, which includes Climate Justice, Law, Economics and Politics
- Education policy and practice
- Humanities, which includes Literature, History, Anthropology and the Arts

Interdisciplinary courses and doctoral studies might be difficult to categorize at times. Applicants are encouraged to use their best judgment when deciding whether or not to apply. However, submissions that obviously do not fall under these categories (for example, MBAs, medical sciences, sports sciences, and applied sciences) will be disqualified.
Climate justice will be a top priority in 2023. Climate Justice scholarship submissions may be in a science or applied science discipline as long as they demonstrate relevance to climate justice issues.
Benefits
- Depending on the needs of the student, the scholarship package’s worth in 2023 will range from R20,000 to R100,000. The initiative will support Masters and PhD level study at a South African university on a full- or part-time basis, and it will take applications from students who want to study remotely.
Eligibility
For this program’s scholarship consideration, you must:
- be a national of, or have refugee status in, one of the following countries: Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe
- be normally resident in one of the above countries
- be in possession of a good first degree (minimum second class, upper division or equivalent) or about to graduate in the year of application
- be studying or applying to study at a South African university
Annual Conferences will be organized for current scholars, and hold several smaller events throughout the year. Scholarship holders are expected to participate in these activities and to become part of and contribute to our network.
