Plant Based Treaty Youth Internship Program 2023

Plant Based Treaty Youth Internship Program 2023

The Plant Based Treaty Youth Internship Program has been designed to impart theoretical knowledge but with a hands-on, practical approach. For the first month, participants will be introduced to various aspects of the climate crisis with speakers and experts from around the world. Each session will be followed by a ‘documentary watch’ break to help deliver the content with more impact. For three months after that, participants are expected to perform a variety of offline tasks and execute fun projects such as designing a climate-friendly menu for the college canteen and organising a composting workshop in their class!

What is the Plant Based Treaty?

The Plant Based Treaty is a climate roadmap which has been proposed as a companion to the UNFCCC or Paris Agreement. The PBT puts food systems at the heart of combating the climate crisis. It aims to halt the widespread degradation of critical ecosystems caused by animal agriculture, to promote a shift to more healthy, sustainable plant-based diets and to actively reverse the damage done to planetary functions, ecosystem services, and biodiversity.

As a proponent of the fight against the climate crisis, the Plant Based Treaty is a stepping stone in mitigating damage to our planet. In doing so, the treaty calls upon cities, businesses, politicians, organizations, and individuals of society to endorse the treaty.

Globally, it has attracted 71,000+ endorsements from individuals, celebrities, businesses, and several organizations. In India, several politicians, 15 cities and their mayors have endorsed the treaty. We hope to spread it far and wide to achieve the aligned goals of the United Nations and the Paris Agreement.

Who is it for?

The Plant Based Treaty Youth Internship Program is a leap towards fostering youth climate action in the 18+ age group. Based on United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, this course focuses on food system improvements to protect the earth and its biodiversity. The program will also introduce to them various avenues where young adults can contribute to slowing down global warming and its impacts. With support from UNICEF and Youth4Water Plus, we aim to provide maximum value to every participant.

The Youth4Water Plus campaign seeks to enable youth actions to contribute towards achieving water security and environmental sustainability, meeting the local, national as well as global goals for WASH, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
