NSFAS — We are Still Processing 2022 Bursary Applications

If you are NSFAS funding applicant who has been curious as why the bursary scheme has been delayed in giving you an update on your application status. Here is why and what some of their application statuses mean.

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme has noted that some of its student funding applicants have grown impatient as they are still unsure of their application status.

In their most recent response to one of these applicants, they stated that they are still processing and working to finalize all outstanding 2022 applications.

Meanwhile, the bursary scheme has encouraged applicants to monitor their funding status on their myNSFAS portal for updates. For applicants who check their application status and are not sure what some of them mean, here are a few of them listed below:

Application Submitted

Your application has been loaded onto the NSFAS system successfully.

Filtering

The system checks if you are a returning student and whether you have any previous qualifications.

Evaluation

NSFAS is verifying all the documents you have submitted during your application.

Funding Eligibility

They are verifying your household financial status that was declared in your application.

Awaiting Academic Results/Admission

NSFAS is checking your academic results and your institution admission status to ensure that you meet the requirements to be funded by NSFAS. Many tend to find themselves staying on this step for a while.

Awaiting Registration

NSFAS is receiving data from your institution to enable them to create a bursary agreement.

Signing of Agreement

At this stage, you need to sign your bursary agreement so that your allowances will be disbursed.

Payments

Your allowances are now being paid either through the NSFAS mobile wallet system or through your institution.
