Applications are now open for the LEX LATA RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME 2022. The Lex Lata Centre for International Law and Comparative Constitutionalism in Africa is a constituent organization of the Lex Lata Group. The Lex Lata Group is a not-for-profit entity founded on five core values: Excellence, Innovation, Integrity, Value Creation, and Value Addition. All activities of the Group are built around and geared towards a consistent reflection of these values.

FELLOWSHIP CATEGORIES:

Junior Research Fellowship

Candidates for the Junior Research Fellowship are required to have the following qualifications.

  • A First Class or high Second Class Upper (2:1) degree (4.0/5.0) in Law.
  • At least one well-researched paper fit for publication in a peer-reviewed journal
  • The candidate will undertake to prepare at least 2 research papers every year, and make one presentation during the general conference of the Centre.
  • The candidate will undertake to participate actively in the intellectual life of the centre and perform other duties that may be assigned to him by the Executive Director.

Research Fellowship

Candidates for the Research Fellowship are required to have the following qualifications

  • First Class or high Second Class Upper (2:1) degree (4.0/5.0) in Law.
  • A Master of Law degree from a world class institution of higher learning.
  • At least two well-researched papers published in a peer-reviewed journal.
  • The candidate will undertake to prepare at least 2 research papers every year, and make one presentation during the general conference of the Centre.
  • The candidate will undertake to participate actively in the intellectual life of the centre and perform other duties that may be assigned to him by the Executive Director.

Senior Research Fellowship

Candidates for the Senior Research Fellowship are required to have the following qualifications

  • First Class or high Second Class Upper (2:1) degree (4.0/5.0) in Law.
  • A Master of Law degree from a world class institution of higher learning.
  • A Ph.D degree in Law from a world class institution of higher learning.
  • At least three well-researched papers published in a peer-reviewed journal.
  • The candidate will undertake to prepare at least 2 research papers every year, and make one presentation during the general conference of the Centre.
  • The candidate will undertake to participate actively in the intellectual life of the centre and perform other duties that may be assigned to him by the Executive Director.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

  • All applicants must be citizens of any African country
  • Applicants must submit a cover letter outlining how they meet the criteria of their chosen fellowship category
  • Applicants must submit a research proposal outlining the research they intend to carry out during the fellowship
  • Applicants must submit a brief curriculum vitae (no more than A4 pages)
