LCOY The Gambia – Call for Volunteers 2022
Local Conference of Youth on Climate Change (LCOY) is an event organised by YOUNGO, the official Children and Youth Constituency to the UNFCCC. Like other countries, LCOY The Gambia has been approved by the YOUNGO LCOY Working Group to create a crucial space for youth climate action and contribution to international conferences like the COYs and COPs.
The LCOY is a national version of the UN Climate Change Conference of Youth (COY), which is held immediately before the Conference of Parties (COP). During the LCOY event in The Gambia, young people will develop a national youth statement that will be incorporated into the Global Youth Statement at COY17 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt later this year. This global youth statement will also be presented at COP27 as the global youth policy document outlining the demands of young people in the fight against climate change.
