Hargeysa Cultural Centre Humanitarian Photography Workshop 2022

Deadline: 28th June, 2022.

Hargeysa Cultural Centre Humanitarian Photography Workshop 2022

Applications are now open for the Hargeysa Cultural Centre Humanitarian Photography Workshop 2022. The saying that a great photo is worth than thousand words tells how much a photo is powerful and has the capacity to tell a story efficiently. This in turn is a huge responsibility on the side of the photographer to make sure the photo is at an appropriate angle, culturally and humanly incognizant of human values.

The dilemma of telling a photo story in comparison to the human first principle of journalism is a day-to-day struggle and ethical conversation a photographer has to have with himself and the wider community. That is why being a photographer is beyond the ability to take a good photo. Rather it is a combination of informed decision-making, ethical understanding of the situation, and prioritizing community service over self-promotion.

It is in the realization of the complex dynamics of photography and photojournalism that Hargeysa Cultural Centre is organizing a Humanitarian Photography workshop as part of the pre-Hargeysa International Book Fair activities.
