GYBN Africa Youth Capacity Building Workshop 2022 on Area-Based Conservation
Applications for the Global Youth Biodiversity Network (GYBN) Africa Youth Capacity Building Workshop 2022 on Area-Based Conservation are open and will close on 26 June 2022.
This workshop aims to increase the understanding and participation of youth in area-based conservation measures in Africa and key approaches to achieving it.
As the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework evolves, parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity are exposed to a variety of perspectives on biodiversity conservation and sustainable use, relating to the future of the framework as a whole and to aspects such as area-based conservation measures, and there are diverse perspectives on how targets might be framed in relation to these measures. The youth capacity-building workshop will establish African youth priorities, bridge knowledge gaps, and draw insights from experts to empower participants to engage youth, decision-makers, negotiators, and the wider public.

Eligibility
- Young leaders from all over Africa under 35 years can apply for this training workshop if:
- You are dedicated towards inclusive and rights-based approach to area-based conservation in Africa.
- Already working on a related project/initiative
- Citizen and resident in an African country
- Can commit at least 3hrs for three consecutive days

GYBN Africa is the regional chapter of the Global Youth Biodiversity Network (GYBN) the coordination platform for youth in the CBD. Founded in 2017 to serve as a conduit for GYBN’s mission, GYBN Africa supports its regional activities and biodiversity advocacy efforts in Africa. GYBN Africa currently has 20 African chapters under its umbrella with over 500 members.
