Fueling Digital Activism Training – Southern Africa (Fully Funded)

All Out and AQYI are pleased to announce the next phase of the Fueling Digital Activism training series in Africa, to be held in South Africa.

From July 11 through July 15, 2022, we will be holding an immersive training for young LGBT+ rights activists from Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Zambia and Zimbabwe. We will bring activists from these countries together for a  participatory training in digital activism, creating a network of empowered change makers across the Southern Africa region. This training will give participants a better understanding of advocating for LGBT+ rights, as well as the opportunity to launch and run their own digital campaigns. The curriculum is based off of a needs analysis of select activists from throughout the region and will cover a range of topics impacting digital campaigning, including creating a campaign, fundraising, creative elements, working with the media, digital security, and mental health and wellness.

Applicants must be:
• 18 – 30 years old and from one of the target countries (Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Zambia and Zimbabwe)
• Passionate about the rights and wellbeing of LGBT+ people in the region
• Able to commit to full and active participation during the training, from July 11 through July 15, 2022, in Johannesburg, South Africa.

We are interested in candidates from diverse backgrounds, including but not limited to non-binary and transgender people, people who live in more rural areas, and people who work with religious communities.

Selected candidates will receive a full scholarship to attend the training, including travel, board, and meals.
