EducationUSA Scholars Program 2023
EducationUSA Malawi is currently receiving applications for the 2023 EducationUSA Scholars Program. The program seeks to identify and recruit academically talented secondary school students to join the program. Only students who are in their junior or senior year of secondary school, or have graduated from secondary school in 2022, are eligible to apply.
The mission is to assist prospective undergraduates in navigating the admissions process to U.S. colleges and universities with the goal of producing highly skilled and widely educated leaders to build tomorrow’s Malawi. EducationUSA Scholars will work with EducationUSA from June 2023 to August 2024 to try and secure college admission and financial aid at U.S. colleges and universities. They expect a sincere commitment from the students to give their energy and time to the program and to their communities.
We do not limit the program geographically; however, students must be able to reach our offices in Lilongwe as required for the in-person bootcamps. The program will also involve virtual programming. For this reason, students must have access to the internet for the entire duration of the program for full participation.
Whilst participation in the EducationUSA Scholars Program is free, students must understand and be prepared to pay for the costs of the U.S. university application process, which may include but are not limited to**:
- U.S. College Application Fees
- Registration fees required for standardized testing (SAT, ACT, TOEFL or Duolingo)
- Internet data costs to participate in virtual programming
- Transportation and accommodation costs to travel to the nearest EducationUSA Center**Select students who need financial support for the upfront costs of applying to U.S. universities or attending virtual/in-person sessions can ask to be considered for EducationUSA Opportunity Funds. See Section 8 for further information. Demonstration of financial need, exceptional academic performance, a supplemental essay, and an interview will be required.
