CEHURD MEDIA FELLOWSHIP 2022 ON ENHANCING YOUNG PEOPLE’S ACCESS TO SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH AND RIGHTS (SRHR) – UGANDA
Center for Health, Human Rights and Development (CEHURD) invites applications for the media fellowship on using the media to enhance young people’s access to sexual and reproductive health and rights”. The media felowship is aimed at building a network of journalists who can boldly report on sexual and reproductive health and rights for young people in Uganda and beyond.
The fellowship on young people’s SRHR will empower participating journalists with knowledge to contribute to the realisation of SRHR, no matter their beliefs or backgrounds. The media fellowship will cover the state of SRHR for young people in Uganda, the policy and legal environment on Young people’s SRHR in Uganda and East Africa and how journalists can report from a gender just and human rights perspective values clarification and attitude transformation exercises for the participating journalists: the finer points of investigative journalism and how to make a good story pitch and orientation on the key thematic areas of RHRN project.
CEHURD is working in collaboration with Reproductive Health Uganda (RHU). Sexual Minorities Uganda (SMUG). Uganda Network of Young People Living with HIV-AIDS (UNYPA). Reach A Hand Uganda (RAHU). SRHR Alliance, and Hope Mbale.
ABOUT THE MEDIA FELLOWSHIP
With support from Rutgers through Reproductive Health Uganda, the Center for Health, Human Rights and Development (CEHURD) is organizing a media fellowship under the Right Here Right Now II (RHRN HI) Project. The fellowship will build capacities of journalists and create a network of journalists who can boldly report on sexual and reproductive health and rights for young people in Uganda and beyond.
The fellowship is also an opportunity to work on both visible (non-controversial and safer issues) and invisible issues (hidden and contested issues) under four thematic areas including education and information to young people, public support, policy advocacy and strengthened movement in advancing young people’s sexual and reproductive health and nights. and gender justice.
ABOUT CEHURD
The Center for Health, Human Rights and Development (CEHURD) is a non-governmental not for profit indigenous research and advocacy organisation established in 2010 to pioneer advocacy for the justiciability of the right to health in Uganda and East Africa, and with a regional and global impact. CEHURD works towards ensuring access to social justice in health and human rights for the most vulnerable communities.
Eligible journalists for the fellowship will be expected to have the following qualifications: CEHURD MEDIA FELLOWSHIP 2022 ON ENHANCING YOUNG PEOPLE’S ACCESS TO SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH AND RIGHTS (SRHR) – UGANDA
- A minimum of a diploma in journalism, develop men studies Social sciences development communications or any other related field.
- Experience of at least two years in journalism practicing with an established media house.
- Recommendation letter from the editor of producer.
- Interest in developing a career path in sexual and reproductive health and rights reporting for young people
- Must be from the Elgon/Sebei and Greater Kampala regions.
- Must NOT have participated in any past CEHURD SRHR media fellowships
