Deadline: 30th June 2022.
BIEA Postdoctoral Writing Grants 2022 – £1,200 per month
BIEA is offering writing grants for several scholars who have successfully completed doctoral research within the last 2 years, within the disciplines of humanities and social sciences in eastern Africa. A writing grant provides a modest stipend for the completion and submission of a high impact publication to Azania: Archaeological Research in Africa or the Journal of Eastern African Studies, and a blog for the BIEA website, based on the results of the PhD research.
The writing grant covers the period of three months, to be completed between the beginning of August 2022 and the end of January 2023. Applicants must be able to confirm that they are only working a maximum of 15 hours per week in other employment during the time they are receiving the writing grant. The writing grant stipend is £1,200 per month for three months, at the end of which the paper must be submitted to the relevant journal.
How To Apply for the BIEA Postdoctoral Writing Grants 2022 – £1,200 per month
Applications should take the form of the doctoral thesis abstract and copy of award certificate; a publication abstract and contents outline; a timetable for the completion of the publication, including which three months between August 2022 and January 2023 the applicant will undertake the writing grant; and a statement of support from the doctoral supervisor.
Deadline for applications: 30th June 2022. Successful applicants will be notified in July (due to capacity constraints the BIEA is unable to notify unsuccessful applicants). Applications should be sent to the BIEA’s UK Programme Coordinator Christine Gibson ([email protected]).
